Making Tracks 2019 took place between the 25th October and 17th November. It was the first season for our new model, which brought together eight emerging musicians ('Making Tracks Fellows') from the UK and around the world for an Autumn residency and tour.
Facilitated in partnership with the US music organisation, Found Sound Nation (OneBeat), our residency at the Centre for Alternative Technology in Wales gave selected Fellows the chance to create new collaborative works, explore and develop strategies for environmental engagement, and receive professional development and career advice from a team of industry experts. Making Tracks Fellows then went on tour, performing at 10 partner venues, including The North Wall (Oxford), The National Centre for Early Music (York), Queen’s Hall (Edinburgh), St George’s (Bristol), Norwich Arts Centre and Kings Place (London).
Held alongside the tour, youth music workshops brought Making Tracks out of venues and into local communities, increasing participation in music, promoting solidarity among people from diverse backgrounds and widening horizons through collaborative music-making.
